Georgia First Executive Director Natalie Crawford testified in support of closing the healthcare coverage gap at a hearing of the Senate Committee on Regulated Industries and Utilities on March 21, 2024. The Committee held a robust and productive discussion on a plan creating PeachCare Plus, a free-market approach designed to meet Georgians’ basic and urgent healthcare needs and close the healthcare coverage gap for 400,000 Georgians. She emphasized the benefits of closing the coverage gap, including job growth, fiscal responsibility, stability of rural hospitals, and improved health for Georgians.
The proposal did not advance out of committee but received a 7-7 vote with both Republican and Democratic support.
